Perhaps an outcome of intermittent connectivity; a basis indexing issue either! 
Several notes and posts are available for addressing performance related issues. A good basis consultant can help better in this regard.
Apart from this, just check whether you are using any exit with custom logic in QA11, which is consuming much of this time?
